Club Pheasant
Club Pheasant is located in West Sacramento. It’s a joint, really, except it’s been there for as long as I can remember; been there since the early 60s that I know of. It’s a watering hole. The farmers used to go there and the salesmen that would sell farmers fertilizer and things. The contractors would go there and the contractor salesmen would go there and they’d go there and drink and play dice all afternoon or quite often. They had great steak sandwiches and they still do. We were there last week with a birthday party for Dennis Wessler. Since the early days, I remember they’ve had it on at least two dining rooms.
When Rita took a year off, we had a goodbye party for her in one of the dining rooms and I remember that being full. And I also remember that (Happy) did all the work in arranging it and (Happy) and Rita never really got along very well. But that’s – you know. It’s a great place; great steak sandwiches. It’s usually a steak sandwich and a little spaghetti and ravioli.
Mike Hellman’s daughter – I think it’s Mike Hellman. It’s Mike, the banker from B of A. He went with a girl, one of the girls from the family there, and she’s still a hostess there now.
